We are currently seeking to recruit a Technical Manager to be based at our Head Office in Cheadle.

Job Outline
Working within Design Services/Built Environment team, the Technical Manager will be responsible for signing-off, coordinating the design; engineering and planning of House build projects as well as promote lean construction and BIM Level 2/3 best practise.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage liaison with the Head of Technical in the investigation of optimal technical solutions to fulfil Customer’s project brief
  • Ensure the most cost effective options are physically developing the land are recommended
  • Assisting as requested with Planning Departments including strategic technical studies, negotiating with statutory Authorities, instructing Consultants and obtaining/vetting their reports.
  • Carry out detailed technical investigation and design optimisation
  • Regular liaison is maintained with statutory authorities
  • Detail Design programmes including the management of the production information in line with the agreed design programme to ensure that the company meets its business objectives
  • Manage Technical and Services budgets including the management of the production information and service procurement against the agreed budgets
  • Making recommendations for cost effective optimising during the pre-planning process
  • Reviewing, challenging and commenting on bespoke/project specific design information
  • The negotiation of appropriate legal agreements with statutory Authorities necessary for the proper technical requirements of a site
  • Identify and resolve technical design and constructional problems
  • Assist in developing and enforcing BIM documentation and workflow processes related to Built Environment projects
  • Assist in enforcing BIM documentation and workflow processes
  • Ensure that the BEP is managed and maintained in accordance with the procedures
  • Manage incoming models form design teams and subcontractors, including structure, architecture and MEP
  • Monitor and report against progress, status and quality of model development in line with the MDPT
  • Co-ordinate the assembly of the pre-construction material for presentation purposes, including phasing 3D modelling
Skills & Experience:
  • Understanding of BIM (Building Information Modelling)
  • Experience in Interior and Architecture design with 2D, 3D CAD/REVIT models and visualization
  • Advance knowledge of AutoCad, Revit and Sketch-Up, Common Data Environment Systems
  • Advanced knowledge of SMP’s, BEP, EIR
  • Have an advanced understanding of  CODE for Sustainable Homes, BREEAM, PART L, Section 106 to translate into reality and practically. 
  • Must be able to determine errors in technical designs and provide alternative solutions
  • Technical Management experience in the housebuilding industry
  • Confident managing high volumes of investigative operational and project work
  • Experience of managing multiple complex projects at a time
  • Exposure to mix use/commercial schemes
  • Experience in concrete, steel and traditional masonry build
  • Excellent team management skills
  • Able to approach design/construction related issues with a flexible, solution-focused approach
  • Highly dynamic with a strong ability to problem solve and investigate
  • Qualifications in Civil/Structural Engineering or Architecture
